東方環頸鴴會在歐洲南部沙灘上築巢，若受到干擾或威脅，成鳥或會棄巢離開。西班牙有研究指，狗隻出現的時候，超過九成坐巢的環頸鴴會被嚇走，牠們反而沒有太受摩托車、直升機等大型機械影響。研究員建議在環頸鴴的繁殖季禁止狗隻進入沙灘範圍，減輕對牠們繁殖造成影響。

Kentish plovers nest on beaches across Southern Europe, but they will abandon their nests if they get disturbed or threatened too often. Researchers in Spain found out over 90% of the time passing dogs will scare the plovers away from their nests, but they seems to be undisturbed by motorbikes, helicopters or planes. Researchers suggested to ban dogs from entering these beaches during the plovers’ breeding seasons in order to reduce disturbance to their reproduction.
