南美洲的潘特納爾濕地，今年出現自1970年以來最嚴重的旱災！佔地4,200萬英畝的潘特納爾濕地是全球最大的濕地，超過九成面積為牧場，在政府下禁火令期間仍有大量農民以燒田方式清理農地，造成數十年來最嚴重的火災。濕地能夠清除空氣中的二氧化碳，在碳循環方面擔當非常關鍵的角色，但全球自1900年已失去約64%的濕地，主要因發展農業及畜牧業所致。

The Pantanal wetlands in South America is experiencing the worst drought since 1970. It is the world’s largest wetland which is more than 42 million acres; over 90% of the ares is pasture. Even with the government’s ban on fires, producers still set fire to clear farm fields, which leads to the worst wildfire in decades. Wetlands help absorbing carbon and plays a key role in carbon cycle. however, 64% of world’s wetlands have disappeared since 1900, and mainly due to agriculture and animal husbandry.
