瀕危的笛鴴於春季會到北美洲的五大湖繁殖，但氣候變化、極端天氣等因素令水位在上升，岸灘面積大大縮小。牠們的覓食空間及資源減少，被迫在近灌木叢或市區等較危險的地方築巢，更要面對巢隨時被水淹沒的危機。

Endangered piping plovers would nest on the beaches of the Great Lake in northern America in the spring. Climate change and extreme weather has caused the water level to rise; many beaches are shrinking and submerged. with less space and resources, the plovers are forced to nest in more dangerous places closer to brushes or in urban areas, and their nest could be flooded anytime.
