灰褐噪鶥曾廣泛分布印尼，但因聲線多變悅耳而成了雀鳥收藏家的熱門收藏，導致牠們在野外的數量大減，在市場上更罕見令售價倍升。當地政府雖然有限制野外捕獵的數量，但市場上的數量往往超出幾倍。灰褐噪鶥是原始森林重要的傳播者，失去牠們將令生態失平衡。

Sunda laughingthrush was once a common bird in Indonesia; it becomes popular to songbird collectors because of its loud and unique calls. as its population declines and becomes harder to catch in the the wild, the price of them has a significant increase. The government tried to control the harvest quota fo these birds, but the number of them found for sale in the market is a few times more than that number. Sunda laughingthrush is an important seed disperser in the primary forest, and without them the ecosystem will be destabilized.
