極危的岸鴴是紐西蘭獨有物種，野外只餘下約250隻。牠們被貓、鼠類等入侵物種威脅至幾乎滅絕。保育團隊嘗試圈養繁殖並野放到另一無威脅的島上。由於這些岸鴴必須於青年時期野放，就算在武漢肺炎的封鎖下，仍獲得通融能安排專機運送五隻岸鴴至新棲地野放。

Shore plover is a critically endangered bird that is endemic to New Zealand. There are only around 250 of them in the wild. They are mainly threatened by invasive species like cats and rats. Conservationists are trying to captive breed them and release them to predator-free islands when they are still juveniles. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, it has been harder to transfer them, but Air New Zealand managed to arrange a special flight just to bring five juveniles to their new home Mana Island.
