位於肯亞的巴林哥湖近年水位不斷上升，今年更達到平均每日上升6寸。湖中的島嶼上仍有八隻瀕危羅氏長頸鹿，因擔心牠們的棲息地將被水淹沒，保育團體用特別訂製的拖船把牠們逐一帶到主島的保護區。現時他們已成功運送兩隻，計劃未來數月會把其餘六隻救出。因氣候反覆無常帶來暴雨及乾旱，加上集水區流域的人類發展，導致肯亞多個湖泊都出現水位急升的現象。

The water levels of Lake Baringo in Kenya has been rising in recent years. It has been particularly high with an estimated 6 inches rise each day in 2020. There were eight endangered Rothschild’s giraffes living on an island in the lake. To save these giraffes from the disappearing island, conservationists are moving them one by one to a sanctuary on the mainland with a special-designed barge. They have successfully moved two of them now, and planning to move the rest of them in the coming months. due to rapidly changing climate with heavy rains, droughts and increasing human activities in the watershed catchment areas, several lakes in Kenya have been flooded.
