劍鴴於海灘上築巢繁殖時經常受到干擾，導致卵及雛鳥的死亡率很高。奧爾德尼島是劍鴴於海峽群島僅餘的繁殖地。為了減少對牠們的干擾，島上兩個海灘的部分位置將會暫時設置警戒線圍封，並建議遊客及狗隻避免靠近。
Ringed plovers are often disturbed on beaches when nesting and caused high death rate to the eggs and chicks. Alderney is the only nesting sites for the ringed plovers in the Channel Islands. To protect these nesting birds, there will be cordons at two beaches this summer; visitors and dogs are encouraged to stay outside of these areas.
