Lithium is a key material to make batteries for many electronic devices like laptops, phones and electric vehicles. Mining lithium is causing lot of environmental problems like reducing water levels, damaging soil, causing pollutions and affects the ecosystem. Chile, Bolivia and Argentina are the major world’s lithium mining countries, and are home to three species of flamingos; two of them only breed in these regions. The shrinking of salty lakes means there will be less resources and food for flamingos, and this will decline their breeding rate as well as the population.
