Researchers found chemical often used in producing toilet paper in 12 dead orcas that were discovered between 2006-2018. The chemical compound, 4-nonylphenol (4NP) is very toxic and harmful to the environment. It can affect orcas’ reproduction, nervous system and cognitive function. There are other pollutants found as well but 46% of them were 4NP. 4NP is also used in other products like detergents and cosmetic items.
