每年約有 13000 條魔鬼魚在捕撈吞拿魚時被誤捕。保育團體與漁民合作研究用不同方法及設備，協助把魔鬼魚放回大海。其中一個方法，是把漁穫放到一個吞拿魚能夠穿過，但把魔鬼魚分隔的網，然後迅速把魔鬼魚放回海裡。拯救魔鬼魚在時間上非常關鍵，因為牠們離開水後無法呼吸，上水越久，死亡的機會就越大。
Around 13000 manta and devil rays were caught unintentionally each year while hunting tuna. Conservationists work together with fishermen to help return these rays back to the sea with different techniques and equipment. One of the solution they developed is to use a manta sorting grid (a grid which tuna can pass through but not rays) to sort out rays from the incoming catch,, then quickly release them back to the water. As time is critical because the longer time these rays are out of water, the bigger chance they cannot breathe and died.
