Great grey owl was once thought prefers to live in dense forests, but a new study discovered they are doing well in urban and semi-urban areas in Alaska as well. They typically use large tree to nest, but they are now nesting in human-made structures like abandoned buildings and wind turbines. They hunt for small rodents like voles and rabbits with less competition for food and resources, because there are less predator species like hawks and foxes in urban areas.
