Large dams in Australia are threatening platypus by restricting their movements and lead to inbreeding. 77% of major dams were build in platypuses’ habitats. These dams reduce their population size and gene flow, and may lower their survival and reproduction chances. Platypus are also threatening by climate change, pollution, habitat loss and invasive species problem.
