虎鯨是群居動物，牠們經常透過分享食物來與彼此建立關係。研究人員於2004年至2024年間，記錄了34次野生虎鯨試圖與人類分享獵物的行為，這些行為發生在世界各地如阿拉斯加、加州、紐西蘭和挪威等。這些「禮物」大多在送給人類時已死亡，一些能鑑定的物種包括綠海龜、翻車魚、港海豹等。在大多數情況下，虎鯨在送出禮物後會等待人類的回應，然後才會收回或丟棄禮物。科學家認為這些行為顯示虎鯨可能有意與人類建立關係。
Orcas are social animals and often share food with each other to build relationship with each other. Researchers documented 34 times wild orcas tried to share their prey with humans from 2004 -2024, and that took place around the world from Alaska, California to New Zealand and Norway. most of these “gifts” were dead when offered, some identified species include green turtle, ocean sunfish, harbour seal, etc. in most of the cases, the orca would wait for a response from the human after offering the gift, then it will recover or abandoned the gift. Scientists think these behaviours show these orcas may be interested in building relationship with human.
