The NSW government promised a Great Koala National Park to protect the native forest where koala, gliders and other wildlife inhabit. However, 13 active logging operas are still ongoing inside the proposed area. On the other hand, the new housing area construction by the government in south-western Sydney, has cleared some of the important habitat of koala, and leads to more roadkills in the area.
