the Illinois Department of Natural Resources has renamed Asian carp fish to “Copi” to encourage people to eat it. Asian carp has been an invasive species in Illinois since 1990s, threatening the ecosystem and native species like paddlefish and bigmouth buffalo fish. the department is also working with chefs and retailers to put copi on their menus and stores. With more people consuming these invasive fish, there is a better chance to keep them out of local waterways.
