Hanuman plover (Charadrius seebohmi) 是新發表的鴴種，牠之前被定為會遷徙的環頸鴴的一個亞種。然而，Hanuman plover 的種群全年都留在斯里蘭卡，引起了研究人員的關注。經過多年的研究，研究小組收集了足夠證據，推翻一個多世紀前的鑑定，並證實這個族群是獨立的物種。
Hanuman plover (Charadrius seebohmi) is a newly identified plover species. It has been identified as a subspecies of the migrating Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) before. however, the hanuman plover population remains in Sri Lanka throughout the year and got attention from researchers. After years of study, the team collected evidence to prove the identification over a century ago is indeed a different species.
