A Gervais’ beaked whale calf was found dead at a North Carolina beach, and evidence suggested it was killed by a party balloon. Scientists found the balloon in its stomach and it was blocking its digestive system. Wildlife like dolphins and whale can mistaken marine debris like this balloon as food and accidentally ingested them.
