In the North Sumatra province of Indonesia, road building disrupted wildlife connectivity and lead to forest fragmentation. Five canopy bridges were built for primates and other wildlife to cross the roads. Experts hope these bridges can reconnect the fragmented habitats and reduce the chance of inbreeding. So far some wildlife like black giant squirrels and Sumatran langurs have been recorded using these bridges.
