The Gran Chaco is the largest dry forest in the Americas, and it has one of the highest deforestation rates on earth, with more than 133 square miles lost every month mainly for soya farms and cattle ranches. Many endangered species like the Chacoan peccary and Santa Fe frog can only be found in the Gran Chaco. The Santa Fe frog mainly lives in underground burrows; male would step out its burrow to call during breeding seasons, but will then return back to the burrow with interested female.
