非洲的東部及中部因氣候變化出現災難性乾旱，對遷徙雀鳥造成威脅。天氣乾旱、降雨量減少令水資源減少，候鳥遷徙變得更困難。資源缺乏亦影響了一些鳥類（如火烈鳥）的繁殖，因牠們需要水來築巢。非候鳥像吼海雕也被迫前往更遠的地方尋找食物。
Migrating birds in center and East Africa are threatened by hot and dry weather caused by climate change. There is less rainfall and water sources become harder to find. The lack of resources affected the breeding of some birds like flamingoes as they need water to create their mud nests. Even non-migratory birds like African fish eagles are forced to travel further to search for food.
